I HAD LUNCH AT MR. DINH TODAY [TESTING ADAPTED SIGMA 12-24mm LENS]
When I decided to switch from Canon DSLR to Sony Mirrorless my plan was to keep my Canon and Sigma glass and to use the lenses using a Metabones adapter but unfortunately that dod not really work as planned. After about five years I ended up with only one Sigma Lens and that was the 12-24mm and in general it did not work well with any of my Sony cameras. A few days I updated my A7RIII firmware and then decided to give my Sigma wide-angle lens one more try and I must admit that I was surprised by its performance ... it only froze about three times rater than once every ten attempts.
Why is this important? I trying to decide if I should purchase the Sony 12-24mm G lens and as the price is close to Euro 2000 I was not keen about the cost. I was also considering the possibility of getting the Sony 16-35mm but was a bit shocked to discover that it retails at about Euro 2600. I have been told that Sony has a Zeiss 16-35 F4 which is available at Euro 1200 and that it is very good. At this stage I think that I will get a Batis 18mm and keep the Sigma..
