CHURCH OF IRELAND CHURCH

TODAY I DECIDED TO USE A VERY OLD CANON MOUNT SIGMA 12-24mm LENS

The currently unused Church of Ireland Church is one of 11 protected structures on the Grangegorman site. It is located in the south-east corner of the site behind what will become student housing. It can be reached via what will be the Serpentine Walk, the proposed nature landscaped trail to complement the more urban designed St Brendan’s Way. The Church presides over its own significant open space with an existing grove of trees and the plans for this protected site are for it to be refurbished for a variety of cultural uses.

I had more less decided not to use non-native lenses with my Sony A7RIII and to limit myself to Sony GM or G lenses but that has proved to be a very expensive policy even if the GM lenses are amazing. I was considering the 16-35mm GM [Euro 2599], the 100-400mm GM [Euro 2899], the 100mm 2.8 GM [Euro 1839] and the Sony 12-24 F4 G lens [Euro 1949]. As a reference it should be noted that a Sigma Art 12-24 F4 retails at Euro 1699.99 in Dublin and in my opinion the difference is not sufficient for me to go with the Sigma Art lens rather than the Sony G lens.

It was suggested to me that I should consider using Sigma Art lenses rather than buying Sony GM lenses and I was advised that there is little or no downside to using adaptors with the A7RIII.

I have a metabones and with my A7RII it was a total disaster as the camera would freeze after taking one or two photographs and as a result I sold all my Canon glass however I did keep a Sigma 12-24mm F4.5 - F5.6 lens. Today I decided to use the Sigma with my A7RIII and I was surprised by the fact that it worked very well but I did have three or four camera lockups [I took about 600 photographs]. To get the best from the lens I had to focus manually and that was not easy.
