THE OAK ON PARLIAMENT STREET

I am a bit confused by this because the Oak was a small pub on Dame Street [at the corner where Crane Lane meets Dame Street]. According to a friend the Oak was redecorated after Second World War with fittings and furniture from the RMS Mauritania which was the largest liner in the world when it came into service in the early 1900s. Looking back at some of my photographs taken in 2009 the pub at the corner was named Thomas Read but my understanding is that the company ceased trading not long after. To the best of my knowledge Reads became the Ivy sometime in 2016.
