ROYAL CANAL - VIEW FROM CLONLIFFE BRIDGE

Until today I did not know that this was named Clonliffe Bridge rather than Russell Street Bridge. It crosses the Royal Canal and a railway track and it connects Jones Road and Russell Street.

Croke Park railway station was a proposed railway station intended to serve Croke Park stadium and the planned new National Children's Hospital at the Mater in Dublin [the hospital is no longer planned for this location]. In 2007, Córas Iompair Éireann began examining the feasibility of building a new station to serve the hospital at Dorset Street, near the stadium. In August 2008, an announcement was made that Iarnród Éireann had entered discussions with the GAA, the owners of the stadium, with a view to them contributing to the cost of building the new station.

As of 2017, the nearest station to Croke Park is Drumcondra and two branches of the Western Commuter line run directly behind the Hill 16 terrace and the Canal End of Croke Park Stadium.
