THE BOTANIC GARDENS

Today I expected rain and high winds but when I looked out my bedroom window this morning it was a beautiful day so I decided that it might be a good idea to visit the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin. Then, I remembered that had been invited by to attend an in-shop launch of the Fujifilm X-T3 so I visited Bermingham Cameras on Burgh Quay. I spent about an hour playing with the new camera and the Fuji medium format camera. About eight years ago I started to switch from Canon DSLR to Sony Mirrorless and I now have a selection of Sony bodies and many of their GM lenses but I now find that when my A7RIII body is combined with and of the GM lenses the combination is very heavy and also it attracts a lot of unwelcome attention. Up until a few weeks ago I was considering the possibility of getting a Sony crop-sensor camera and then a friend showed me his Fuji X-T2 a few days before the X-T3 was announced. Today I was very impressed by the X-T3 and the lenses that are available and at this stage I believe that it is much better than any of the Sony crop-sensor cameras however there is a rumour that Sony are about to introduce a camera that is superior to the X-T3 which has poor battery life and lacks in-body stabilisation.

I will wait to see what Sony does but for a number of reasons I suspect that I will purchase the Fuji X-T3 however when it comes to full frame I will stick with Sony. I am also looking at medium format and look forward to the launch of the Fuji GFX 50R but I may not be able to raise the cash to buy one. If you are thinking about getting a mirrorless camera you should have a look at the X-T3.

By the time I had finished playing with the Fuji equipment it was 1PM so I had lunch at the Hungry Mexican and did not get to the Botanic Gardens until 3PM.

In case you are interested I used a Sony RX0 which is described as being an ultra-compact waterproof-shockproof camera. It is so small that people are usually totally unaware that I am taking photographs.
