NORTH WALL AVENUE
A new 330m street connecting North Wall Quay and Sheriff Street Upper in Dublin's docklands is now operational. However, I did not notice any through traffic - all the cars in my photographs appear to belong to builders working on the nearby sites.
This new street was to align with a new bridge across the Liffey. However, the development of the bridge is currently on hold at the request of the National Transport Authority (NTA) in order to allow for a review of Dart Underground after the Government announced that the development of the new train line had be shelved until after 2020.
Dublin City Council was allocated €2.94 million in EU funding for the Liffey bridge. This will now be transferred to the development of the Poolbeg bridge which will run from the end of Sir John Rogerson’s Quay across the mouth of the river Dodder where it flows into the Liffey, and across to Thorncastle Street in Ringsend.
