CAPEL STREET - DUBLIN 1

I have lived in the area for almost thirty years and I am happy with the way the street has developed since I moved here.

Inn the 17th and 18th Centuries it was residential and according to all accounts it lined with freestanding mansions and everyone of them had large gardens and courtyards. In the 18th Century the residential properties became places of commerce and trade, and thus Capel Street transformed.

Today Capel Street is populated by independently owned supermarkets and grocers from around the world and it features best Asian supermarkets in Ireland. The last time I checked there were Russian, Moldovan, Romanian, Brazilian and Chinese supermarkets.

There is also a huge selection of excellent pubs and restaurants and I should mention that Mr. Dinh is one of my favourites but I also visit the Marrakesh Restaurant on a regular basis.
